It can be a very good profession, but you will almost never have a chance to work in a hospital, and will always be a private businessperson, so it’s half being a good doctor, and half being a businessman. If you are good at both you can do well. It varies a lot from State to State. You have to work somewhere with strong State workers insurance benefits (NOT california!) I just recently left the US again to work back in Europe because I got tired of overly aggressive insurance policies and crooked attorneys.
In Europe, Asia and South America you can just about write your own ticket since there is such a demand here! Think about that seriously because the bills to pay back are very large (over a hundred thousand dollars for most!)
