In order to attract more doctors to work for them communities go to places by doing job fairs. Queen’s University, the University of Toronto, the University of Western Ontario and the University of Ottawa are the normal places the one will find job fairs. Job fairs allow students to get a picture of what to expect when they are done with school so in the mean time they can get training in areas such as obstetrics, mental health, geriatrics, emergency medicine and anesthesia The rural areas attract the residents and students attending the Ottawa fair more than the urban one. There are more services that a physician outside the city can offer to their patients. One can only handle so many cases in the city as they always refer cases to other doctors.

Small towns have good lifestyles which are good for doctors as they work all the time. There is still an opening in Marathon for 2 or 3 more doctors so that existing staff can take sabbatical leaves and work fewer hours.
In Renfrew, a town of 9000 located 100 km west of Ottawa physicians are needed and they offer a practice and office space. Doctors that decide to work south will eventually return. Their worry about health care environment is why they leave.
